You really can't appreciate the beauty and growth of Southwest Florida, more specifically Babcock Ranch, until you've visited and spent significant time here. That was the experience for my wife and I. It was back in late July 2024 when a visit to her parent's home in The Northridge community of Babcock Ranch led to a whirlwind journey we embraced with very little hesitation.
One of the immediate differences we saw between where we were living in Central New York and what we now call our home is the pace and manner in which things get done. I will never forget during that late July trip looking to the sky above Babcock Ranch in the area of Jack Peeples Park and The William & Mary Ann Smith Sports Complex. We saw a helicopter installing massive stadium lights at the field house and they got it done in one afternoon. I thought in that moment, they do things right here and they do things big! We need to be a part of this tremendous progress.
While the decision was already pretty much made in our heads, we had to be sure to pick the right place within Babcock Ranch we wanted to live. After visiting many communities, meeting with several builders, touring several models and discussing the differences between a Coach Home or a Condo, we decided to build a beautiful single-family home from the ground up in a newer community appropriately named, "The Sanctuary." We couldn't believe how affordable the cost was going to be compared to building new in New York State. That started the beginning of the rest of our lives.
We were engaged at that time and we signed our contract to build our new home in early August 2024. Fast forward to the end of February 2025, we closed on our gorgeous new "Sweetwater" by William Ryan Homes that my wife so beautifully designed. Then, on March 22nd, 2025 we experienced the happiest day of our lives, our wedding day at the incredible Club at Renaissance in Fort Myers. Then, it was a lot of being apart while my wife started her new job here in Florida and I had to travel to New York to prepare to list and sell our home and make the final move down here to Babcock. All the while I was finishing up the process of becoming a Florida Real Estate Broker. Having accomplished that titles, I would now be able to provide the people of Southwest Florida with the level of service that my clients in Upstate New York had come to love and appreciate.
Now, we are moved into and mostly settled in our new home. We are absolutely loving the new house and our dog, Indie, is adjusting well to the Florida climate coming from one of the worst winters we've had in recent years. While she loved the snow and her big fenced-in yard in New York, she now loves her fenced-in yard overlooking a large pond where she can bark at all the big birds and play to her hearts content. We are truly blessed and excited to be starting this journey together to make Southwest Florida home and we can't wait to meet new people, especially our awesome neighbors here in Babcock Ranch.
It wasn't easy to move from where most of our family was and move from a place where I had established a Real Estate business over the last eight years, but I am confident with the level of dedication and service I provide to my clients I will be able to continue to grow and help make the buying and selling process as smooth as possible for my new clients in Babcock and beyond.
It is The River Hills Properties way that I have learned since I was a young radio host, also working the counter at Dick's Sporting Goods to make ends meet. It is the River Hills way, taught by my mentors Bill and Robin Mongeau, that showed me how Real Estate SHOULD be done and I can't wait to introduce it to the amazing people of Southwest Florida.
